Thriller!

Dance 1 and 2 Students will learn the choreography of Michael Jackson's "Thriller" in class on Tuesday and Wednesday, and perform as a class on Thursday.  Students are asked to wear their dance attire scheduled for that day (please see schedule on board), but are welcome to accessorize with their best "zombie inspiration" for this in-class performance.  Worth full evaluation and effort grade, so please be sure to practice often.

Dance 2 students, be sure to come prepared to discuss the various classical and contemporary elements based on our recent review of Alvin Ailey's "Beyond the Steps" DVD.  Per the lecture in class this afternoon, the various dance ability and broad style of professional dancers including Mikhail Baryshnikov are great for thorough examination of choreography and the fusion of traditionally separate dance styles.  Be sure to review the following as well as a few performances on your own:

Thank you for working hard the past few weeks while we learned and reviewed new ballet and dance terminology.  To prepare for our upcoming quiz, please be sure to review your terminology and complete a worksheet (due Monday, Oct 28).

Alvin Ailey "Beyond the Steps" DVD
Our Dance 1 will watch "Beyond the Steps" on Friday, Oct 24 and after our Ballet and Jazz class on Monday, Oct 28.  Be sure to take plenty of notes and really examine the unique style of Alvin Aliey's American Dance Company.
